WEN All-Member Call: Resilience and Community Beyond COVID
March 25, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Note: There are two video calls: Wednesday, March 25 from 12 – 1pm AND Friday, March 27 from 2 – 3pm.
This is Women’s History Month, not Coronavirus Month. Let’s take it back.
The WEN Board has been talking about how anxious and exhausted we feel in the middle of COVID-19. We realized that if we feel this way our members must be feeling it too. We all need a strong supportive network, especially now.
As if we did not already know it, the gender inequities for women working in male-dominated sectors are only being highlighted — and likely exacerbated — by this global shutdown.
And we have a plan for how to help maintain community in these most trying of times.
Please join the women of WEN as we make space for sharing and support; practice compassion; take action; and be strategic about how we not only survive, but come out the other side stronger, more resilient, and more steeped in community than ever — and ahem, take over the world.
We will have video calls next week to feel refreshed with a sense of community and tools to help you get started on your own personal leadership journey.
What our board members say:
Soko Made – I’m still anxious but have been connecting virtually with colleagues, friends, and family. Continuing to stay grounded through self-care practices but most importantly, I’m extremely thankful and grateful for the people who are on the front lines taking care of our basic needs!
Ruby Tumber – I feel stir crazy because of all the time indoors alone, and have been using tools like short walks outside to keep me grounded. Right now I need a mimosa.
Erica Warren – I feel restless because of the immediate reduction in personal and professional interactions and have been using tools like Zoom video calls, long walks, audio books, and crafting/cooking projects to keep my daily activities meaningful. Right now I need a funny photo, your favorite links, or connections to potential projects to feel proactive.
Paula Swiatkowski – I feel grateful to CA leadership for recognizing earlier than most that being uncomfortable for a relatively short time will pay big dividends with ‘flattening the curve.’ Right now I need everyone to do the right thing and take one for the team.
Sara Lanning – I feel fortunate because this unplanned disruption has made me realize how lucky I am to have friends and be able to speak with them, share a laugh and a hug during non social distancing times. I have been using tools like facetime, instagram, and free work-out videos to keep me entertained and feeling light-hearted. Right now I need to keep a level head and realize that our best people are working on solutions.
Reserve your seat at the virtual table here — no charge, of course — for Wednesday, March 25 from 12-1pm or Friday, March 27 from 2-3pm. Your email order confirmation will lead you to the digital links page within Eventbrite .
